Rey may not be the best character of the Sequel Trilogy, but she absolutely is one of the greatest Star Wars characters ever created.
Portrayed by Daisy Ridley, Rey is a Force-sensitive orphan who scavenges for food on the desert wastes of Jakku before circumstances lead her to join the Resistance. She may not be a Jedi in the traditional sense, but she is a formidable Force-user and one who has had to deal with great trauma on her path to saving the Galaxy from the First Order.
Rey is brilliant because she's a conduit for fans' attitudes towards the Jedi. She too has heard all the legends and reveres them, except the obvious difference in this case is that she's actually going to be a Jedi, a responsibility she isn't desperate to assume, but one she knows she must.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir.
