4. Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader
At the end of the day, the Skywalker Saga is all about Anakin. The prequels detail his early years as a Jedi and his fall to the Dark Side; the original trilogy shows him as the malevolent and feared Darth Vader; and the sequels deal with the legacy he left behind when he turned on the Dark Side and redeemed himself for his evil ways.
Once a respected Jedi said to be the Chosen One, Anakin was a troubled young man who had all the makings of a great Jedi Master. Trained by Obi-Wan Kenobi, he fought during the Clone Wars and was eventually manipulated into becoming the new apprentice of the sinister Darth Sidious.
His is a staggering arc, and to top it off he's arguably the most iconic character in cinematic history, making his place on this list all the more deserved.
