30 Greatest Star Wars Characters Of All Time

3. Han Solo

star wars Poe Dameron
Lucasfilm

The ultimate rogue hero, Han Solo stole the show in the original trilogy thanks to Harrison Ford's energetic and charming performance and Solo's bad-boy-with-a-heart-of-gold personality. At once sleazy, self-involved and smarmy, Han Solo had a striking development from shady smuggler to Rebel leader.

During his journey, he's frozen in carbonite, falls in love, saves the day on more than one occasion and is unbelievably funny and badass every step of the way. As the films go on, his usual self preservation instincts are slowly tossed aside, revealing a true hero with a strong moral code underneath his shaggy appearance and cocky smoulder.

Outside of Luke, it is Han who has the best journey to hero status in the original trilogy, and it's a near-unrivalled blast to see play out.
