30 Greatest Star Wars Characters Of All Time

23. Qui-Gon Jinn

Appearing in the prequel trilogy's The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn was the ultimate Jedi. Stern, wise, loyal, disconnected from politics and concerned only with peace and a bright future, he was the glue that held the film together, as an honourable warrior who discovered Anakin Skywalker and decided to take the boy to the Jedi Council.

His death at the hands of Darth Maul remains one of the prequels' greatest moments, and it's a testament to the optimistic outlook of Jinn and Liam Neeson's solid performance that it remains such a gut-punch of a twist.
