22. Qui-Gon Jinn
A very well respected Jedi despite his antagonistic stand against the Jedi Council, Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-WaN Kenobi were assigned to negotiate the withdrawal of the Trade Federation's blockade against Naboo. After being the target of an assassination attempt, they freed the queen and tried to reach Coruscant but their ship was disabled along the way. On the remote planet of Tatooine, Qui-Gon discovered the young slave Anakin Skywalker who had the most force potential of anyone he had ever met. Qui-Gon was later killed by Darth Maul on Naboo but before he died he entrusted the training of Anakin to his padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Played by Liam Neeson, Jinn's character is somewhat colorlessly written by George Lucas, but he still makes enough of an impact to be a memorable character. In addition, he is one of the most pivotal characters in the rise of Darth Vader so you can't very well leave him off this list even though he could have been a much more interesting character.
