4. Yoda
Head master of the Jedi Order, Yoda is the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy at the start of the Clone Wars and has a small role in training every Jedi who came through the Academy. He later gives Luke Skywalker a crash course in the Jedi profession which proves essential when he faces Darth Vader and the Emperor in a confrontation that might have determined the fate of the galaxy Yoda's scenes on Dagobah are some of the best scenes in the trilogy, spewing out wise aphorisms left and right and simply being the best movie puppet of all time. His initial charade of being some crazy little guy to see how Luke would react is funny every time and it's a shame that he only gets a tiny bit of screen-time over the fifth and sixth movie. In my opinion he was ruined in the prequel trilogy where he went from a sort of spiritual leader into a leaping whirlwind of destruction whenever he had the chance, but his run in the Original trilogy cements him a place this high on the list. Now if we can only stop the inevitable standalone Yoda movie, the character can remain one of the most beloved characters in blockbuster history.
