30 Greatest Stripper Scenes In Film History

26. Barbara Stanwyck - Lady Of Burlesque (1943)

Lady Of Burlesque (also known as The G-String Murders aka Striptease Lady) follows the murder of two strippers of a New York burlesque theater and the detection of the killer. Feisty Dixie Daisy (Barbara Stanwick) is a burlesque performer turned mystery-solver when her rival burlesque stars Lolita and Princess are killed. While it's tame by today's standards, the film depicted as much as censors would allow at the time with respect to the precise nature of burlesque shows. The most memorable moment of the film is when Daisy takes to the stage, caressing herself with a fur muff, as she performs what has since been known as The G-String Song Fun fact: This song's actual title is Take It Off The E String (Play It On The G String). It only got one commercial recording back in 1943 because the song was considered too risqué. My, how things have changed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt9SVJevMgg
