Mervyn LeRoy's Gypsy is based on the book of the 1959 stage musical Gypsy: A Musical Fable by Arthur Laurents, which was adapted from Gypsy: A Memoir by Gypsy Rose Lee. The film stars Natalie Wood as shy performer Louise Hovick who is pushed by her overbearing and domineering mother to transform into popular entertainer Gypsy Rose Lee. Woods final performance and strip to Let Me Entertain You shows Louise at the peak of her confidence and strength away from her bossy mother. "Let me entertain you. Let me make you smile. And if you're real good. I'll make you feel good! We'll have a real good time!" she croons as she strips (nearly) everything off. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rNiHirVoQw
