Brian Henson hasn't directed a feature film since 1996's Muppet Treasure Island and, for a man who brought us the greatest Christmas/Muppet movie ever made, that's much too long.

The Happytime Murders, then, looks like a wonderful and weird return for Henson, with the movie billed as a neo-noir puppet comedy horror film.

The excellent premise is that the movie is set in a world where puppets co-exist with humans, and private eye and disgraced ex-cop Phil Phillips (long-time Muppeteer Bill Barretta) goes on the hunt for a serial killer who has been targeting cast members of 80s TV series The Happytime Gang. The human cast includes the likes of Melissa McCarthy, Elizabeth Banks, Joel McHale, and Maya Rudolph.

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
