30 Most Hotly Anticipated Movies Still To Come In 2017 - Ranked

3. Thor: Ragnarok

Thor Ragnarok Bruce Banner
Marvel Studios

Release Date: October 27th

Billed As:

Taika Waititi's rescue of the Thor franchise after the bland The Dark World, with a great cast, huge stakes and lots of humour, by the look of it.

Hype:

There may be some who will fall over themselves to tell you that Marvel are too committed to comedy and too daunted by real darkness and adult themes, but the MCU knows what it is by now and so too do the fans. And even with the very definitely light tone to parts of Ragnarok, there's no escaping the world-ending scale of the threat new villain Hela represents.

Waititi seems to have injected the film with some swagger and confidence to go along with the bags of charm (prompting some to claim this is just a Guardians Of The Galaxy clone), and the story - of Loki accidentally messing Asgard up and Thor ending up a plaything in the Grandmaster's games is delightful. So too is the promise of a clash of the titans fight between Thor and Hulk, and more set up for Thanos' impending arrival in Infinity War.
