30 Most Memorable Oscar Moments From The Last 30 Years
22. Cuba Gooding Jr Vs. The Academy Orchestra (1997)
Cuba Gooding Jr. won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his iconic performance in Jerry Maguire, resulting in Gooding taking the stage to deliver one of the Academy Awards' signature rambling, gushing acceptance speeches.
The actor was committed to thanking just about everybody he's ever met, prompting the show's orchestra to try and play him off.
However, Gooding had none of it, launching into a lightning-fast list of thank yous which was ironically only made even more rabble-rousing by the orchestra's epic rendition.
Gooding famously struggled to capitalise on his awards success in the years that followed his big win, but he nevertheless gave one of the Oscars' most memorable - if not necessary most eloquent - acceptance speeches ever.
