30 Most Memorable Oscar Moments From The Last 30 Years
11. Ethan Coen's Hilariously Short Acceptance Speeches (2008)
2008 was the year of the Coen brothers, as they scooped Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay Oscars for their masterful thriller No Country for Old Men.
Hilariously, after Joel Coen gave a conventional list of thank yous, Ethan simply walked up to the microphone, paused for a few moments and said a curt "thank you very much" before disappearing from the stage to the crowd's amusement.
Ethan repeated this joke later in the night when the pair won Best Director, adding, "I don't have a lot to add to what I said earlier", and after a pause, "Thank you", before letting Joel get on with a more verbose speech.
Wasn't it just wonderful to realise that the Coens are just as weird and quirky as their filmmaking would suggest?
