Hot off his role in Jonathan Demme's Something Wild, Ray Liotta was offered to meet with Tim Burton, who liked him for one of three roles in the movie - Batman, The Joker and Harvey Dent.

However, without any frame of reference for how the director of Pee-wee's Big Adventure might be suitable to helm a Batman movie, he felt that the end result would likely be "silly", and didn't even bother meeting Burton to discuss it.

Liotta has since stated that he regrets not taking the meeting with the filmmaker, even if he starred in the most iconic role of his career as a result - Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas. You really can't fault his decision-making here, honestly.
