30 Things You Didn't Know About Tim Burton's Batman

6. Bruce Sleeping Like A Bat Was Michael Keaton's Idea

Perhaps the weird single moment in the entire movie involves Bruce Wayne's peculiar sleeping habits.

In one scene he's witnessed hanging upside down off what appears to be a piece of gym equipment, swinging back and forth with his arms folded, not unlike a bat.

And while you'd be forgiven for assuming that the idea belonged entirely to Tim Burton, it was actually another of Michael Keaton's contributions to the film.

Keaton said of the moment, "It makes all the other stuff even weirder and darker because you're thinking, 'This guy's off.'"

For many fans it's a step too goofy and arguably should've been left on the cutting room floor, over-literalising the dichotomy of Bruce and The Bat in unintentionally comical visual terms.
