30 Things You Didn't Know About Tim Burton's Batman

5. Michelle Pfeiffer Almost Played Vicki Vale

Several actresses very nearly ended up playing Bruce Wayne's love interest Vicki Vale before Kim Basinger was cast, including Blade Runner's Sean Young, who had to quit the part when she broke her collarbone during pre-production.

Michelle Pfeiffer was also asked to audition for the role, though Keaton suggested it might be an awkward fit as she and Keaton were dating at the time.

The production went with Basinger, then, though quite ironically, Pfeiffer ended up starring as Catwoman in Batman Returns, as by 1991 she and Keaton were no longer an item. Because ex-lovers playing now-lovers isn't awkward at all.

Given the iconic nature of Pfeiffer's performance in Batman Returns, it's safe to say that everything worked out for the best.
