Though Danny Elfman had a number of movie scores under his belt before Burton hired him for Batman - including Burton's two prior movies - to many he was still "that bloke from Oingo Boingo", and Elfman recently declared that "Nobody but Tim wanted [him] on the movie."

Producer Jon Peters was especially sceptical of Elfman's ability to deliver a calibre score befitting Batman, and Elfman felt that he would probably be fired early in production.

However, the mood changed completely when Burton encouraged Elfman to play the now-iconic main theme for Peters, after which "Jon jumped out of his chair, really just almost started dancing around the room."

The score of course went down a treat, winning Elfman a Grammy Award and cementing him as Burton's go-to composer moving forward. But had Elfman not been quite so prepared for that meeting, things could've gone very differently.
