30 Truly Awful Lines That Ruined Comic Book Movies
24. Peter's Destiny - The Amazing Spider-Man
"Peter, I know things have been difficult lately, and im sorry about that. I think I know what you're feeling. Ever since you were a little boy you've been living with so many unresolved things. Well take it from an old man, those things send us down a road, they make us who we are,and if anyone is destined for greatness, it's you son.You owe the world your gifts, you just have to figure out how to use them, and know that wherever they take you, we'll always be there. So come on home Peter, you're my hero, and I love you." The problem, of course, is that one line lurks ominously in the background every time either Uncle Ben or Aunt May open their mouths to imbue some profound philosophy on Peter in The Amazing Spider-Man. The result is that every single line feels like an attempt to recapture the simple majesty of "with great power..." without ever explicitly saying it, which is why Uncle Ben is oddly verbose in saying exactly the same thing.
23. "Don't you know who I am? I'm the Juggernaut, b*tch!" - X-Men: Last Stand
Casting Vinnie Jones was never going to be classed as a masterstroke. Despite the former football player's hulking physical presence, and his occasionally (and possibly accidental) command of a vaguely threatening scowl, he was about as unsuited to being in a comic book movie as would be to being in a Disney Princess movie. As Juggernaut, he was overpowered with a mythology that had no precedent, and yet we were supposed to believe the hype. Noone did, and generous script moments like this just died on their backside.
