31 Horror Movies To Watch This October

7. The Wind

She Dies Tomorrow
IFC Midnight

The horror-western is a disappointingly malnourished genre, so Emma Tammi's delicately crafted effort is especially alluring.

Caitlin Gerard is terrific as Lizzie, a plains-woman who appears to lose her mind amid the isolation of the late 1800s' American frontier.

Though focused more on its mood than its plot, The Wind is nevertheless a riveting character piece which transcends its familiar setup to deliver a uniquely gorgeous, atmosphere-rich entry.

Again, Gerard is the real reason to see this, though for anyone craving a more meditative horror with a totally unique aesthetic, this should do the job.

The Wind is out now on Shudder.
