It's that time of the year again. October is among us, meaning the nights are drawing in, it's getting colder outside, and the appeal of staying in and filling your eyeballs with ungodly amounts of movies speaks for itself.

October is of course all about the lead-up to Halloween on October 31st, and for many horror movie fans, October is defined by the 31 Days of Horror - an annual challenge where horror buffs watch a horror movie a day throughout the month all the way to Halloween.

And with streaming services like Shudder doing the lord's work of curating a diverse slate of new horror releases, there's never been more movies for gore-hounds to choose from.

And so, by poring back over the year's best horror releases both mainstream and cult, and also looking to what's releasing over the course of October itself, you could do much worse than watching these 31 horror movies during the coming month.

Whether you're craving comedy-horror, more typical slasher fare, or something just totally unexpected, this list of 31 must-see horror flicks has got something for everyone...

31. Halloween Ends

The allegedly concluding chapter of the Laurie Strode/Michael Myers saga is finally here, and though Halloween Kills left many fans brutally disappointed, it at least ended on an emotionally charged note that set the stage for this apparent finale.

Even if Jamie Lee Curtis has promised fans that the film will piss a lot of them off, it'll be an absolute spectacle to observe no matter how it actually turns out.

In the very least, Halloween Ends will hopefully finally close the book on Laurie and Michael's 45-year feud, clearing the path for Universal to inevitably reboot the franchise with a new cast and director 5-10 years from now.

Halloween Ends releases on October 14.
