22. Malcolm's Girlfriend Is Sent To The Island (The Lost World)
The sequel contrivances pile on when Hammond explains to Malcolm that his girlfriend, animal behaviourist Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore), has already been sequestered to the island. It's a lamely convoluted way to ensure that Malcolm heads to Isla Sorna despite every instinct telling him no, and it makes no sense that Sarah wouldn't tell him about her excursion first. Of course, the film tries to lampshade this later by having Sarah tell Malcolm that she didn't tell him because he'd try to stop her, but it's thoroughly unconvincing and really quite laughable. Just another reason why The Lost World is so difficult to take seriously...
