11. Samuel L. Jackson's Severed Arm (Jurassic Park)
Quite possibly the most grotesque and shocking moment in the Jurassic Park franchise occurs late in the first movie, when Ellie is being chased by a Raptor and is relieved to find a familiar arm touch her shoulder, believing it to be technician Mr. Arnold (Samuel L. Jackson), before realising seconds later that it's just his severed limb, having presumably been torn off by a Raptor. For adults, it's something of a darkly hilarious moment of gory slapstick. Given the movie's permissive PG-13 rating, it seems pretty over-the-top and certainly not something that a movie with the same rating could get away with nowadays. One can only imagine the number of children traumatised by this graphically violent moment.
