33. Lord Humungus (The Road Warrior)
The most immediately terrifying villain in the franchise is certainly Lord Humungus, the brutish, S&M-clad leader of a motorcycle gang who terrorises a local oil refinery and finds itself coming face-to-face with the Road Warrior. Aside from his bizarre appearance (which combines a gimp suit with a hockey mask), what's most interesting about Humungus is his diplomatic side: rather than murder the residents of the refinery just for kicks, he's (apparently) happy to let them live if they simply evacuate. Little is known about his past, which makes him all the more interesting, though curiously enough, one of the original scrapped ideas was for Humungus to be Max's char-grilled partner Goose, back from the dead (but more on him later).
