As the "76th Hunger Games" kicks off and Katniss plots to make her way to Snow's mansion, she's told that the route is populated with "pods", defensive units which aim to kill anyone it comes in contact with. The pods can range from weaponry to groups of mutts, though we see three of them during the final movie: a wall of flamethrowers, two gigantic machine guns strapped to a wall, and most devastatingly, a sea of an oil-looking substance which instantly kills anyone it touches. It's a novel idea that helps add a little variety to proceedings, though it would've been cool to see more of the traps show up before Katniss arrived at her destination.
