Near the end of the 75th Games, Katniss appears to hear Prim calling her name, and hysterically runs into the jungle to find her, only to discover the voice emanating from a Jabberjay, a bird that can recite entire conversations and is used by the Capitol for espionage purposes. Finnick shows up to help her but is then distracted by apparent cries from his girlfriend Annie, but Katniss tries to remind him that they're not real, while Finnick notes that the cries of pain were still copied from somewhere. Katniss then hears Gale's screams of agony and the pair attempt to flee the flock of Jabberjays that chase after them, ultimately cowering in a corner until the hour of torture is up.
