12. The Totally Pointless Mockingjay Split

This wasn't a massive surprise, but yes, the decision to split the final book, Mockingjay, into two parts was wildly unnecessary. Part 1 is 123 minutes, and Part 2 is 137 minutes, but when you remove one set of credits (which have always run about 10 minutes in length for this series) and forget all the bloated guff in Part 1, Mockingjay could easily have been a concise 3-hour film. There's a reason Part 1 grossed substantially less than Catching Fire: most knew that it would be a half-baked prelude, and they weren't wrong, while Part 2, though broadly acclaimed, has been said to struggle to fill its run-time also.
