4 Reasons Why The Avengers is Overrated

3. The Acting

The acting in The Avengers was a mixed bag. This ranged from the awesome (Robert Downey Jnr., Mark Ruffalo, and Clark Gregg) to the average (Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner) to the downright terrible (An unfortunately miscast Cobie Smulders). It's difficult to stand out whenever Robert Downey Jnr. is around, and frankly Captain America and Thor really suffer when sharing the screen with Iron Man. The only character able to interact well with him being Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner. Scarlett Johansson was hot as usual, but other than that I€™m not sure what else she brought to the film. But we€™ll let her off because she did look damn good.

4. The Dialogue

Again, it was good but nothing special. The surprise package in this sense was of course The Hulk, taking everyone unaware by not being completely terrible like in the past two attempts at bringing the classic character to the screen. But let€™s not get ahead of ourselves, yes there was a couple of funny lines from him and Downey Jnr., but there were actually people laughing out loud around me in the Cinema€come on people, a soft chuckle would do the trick, it wasn't that funny! Other than that, the rest of the dialogue is very average, X doesn€™t trust Y, Z wants X and Y to play nice to save the world, X and Y finally work together etc etc. I honestly enjoyed The Avengers, it was fun, action packed and entertaining. I€™m not disputing that. But how it can be considered one of the best films of all time is absolutely beyond me, when you think of all the films out there that are deeply meaningful, challenge you, engage you or just make you down right laugh out loud, how can The Avengers really compare? It was a little bit funny, had some good characters and had some pretty cool action sequences. A great popcorn blockbuster, but no classic€ can€™t we just leave it at that? What do you think? Do you agree that The Avengers Assemble is overrated or are you one of the 244,563 (at time of writing) that has helped put it in at #42 in the IMDB top 250? Sound off below.
