4 Sci-Fi Villains Who Could Actually Happen (And 4 That Totally Couldn't)

2. Jaws - Jaws

Although a shark is actually the only thing on this list that actually exists, a shark with an attitude this bad is still pretty unbelievable.

The reputation that Jaws has earned Great Whites over the past 40 years has little basis in reality and is responsible for more shark deaths than the number of humans ever attacked by sharks. The movie is based on a discredited scientific theory that some sharks can develop a taste for human flesh and hunt us intentionally. This is just not the case and it actually turns out that sharks don't seem to like the taste of human all that much.

Shark attacks are rarely the frenzied blood-and-frothing-water affair that is depicted in Jaws and others like it. Sharks are naturally inquisitive and, due to their distinct lack of hands, tend to explore the world through their mouths. They're like toddlers or puppies, but with really big teeth.

Encountering a gigantic, hyperaggressive shark is certainly frightening to us on a very primal level, but about as realistic as that creepy Samara lass crawling out of your TV.
