4 Tantalising Clues In The New Interstellar Trailer

2. Alien Worlds!

Plus we actually get a look at some of these alien worlds! Previous looks at the film have centred on what we assume are Interstellar's early sections, with McConaughey hanging out on his dusty farmland, amongst the crops, speeding along in a pickup truck. Which was actually sort of interesting in its own way, a delightfully down-to-earth and homespun setting for a director whose last handful of movies have involved some incredible location work and sets. You can't keep that big brain of Nolan down, however, and it looks like he's really letting his imagination go wild when it comes to these "potentially habitable planets" our plucky team of astronauts are scoping out. We don't mean, like, Solaris wild, but in that vein. The original premise of Interstellar was cooked up in collaboration with a theoretical physicist, and the director has since studied relativity at the California Institute of Technology to get the film as close to the real science as possible. So whilst the snowy alien world, the trippy transparent galaxy and the like we see in this new trailer are visual delights, we wouldn't be surprised if they have some scientific precedent, possibly picked up whilst liaising with some clever space dudes. Scientists we mean, not aliens.
