26. Tomb Raider

Even when Angelina Jolie hung up her vest and English accent for the last time, it seemed likely we'd get to see more Tomb Raider movies, and on the back of the gritty game's rebirth, Alicia Vikander is the latest actor to step into Lara Croft's shoes.

The film is based on the 2013 rebooted game, with a focus on Croft's origin and the distinct possibility of some actual tomb raiding, hopefully. What we know of the plot suggests Croft will embark on an adventure to find her father - played by Dominic West - who is assumed dead, and face off against Walton Goggins' villain.

Interestingly, Goggins says the film is "Raiders of the Lost Ark meets a genre version of the Joseph Conrad novel Victory: An Island Tale," which sounds excellent. Shame it's a video game movie really, but it might be the first one not to suck.
