40 Must See Films of 2013

2. Machete Kills (unscheduled)

Machete is one of the dumbest movies I've ever sat through, but it's that right kind of dumbness that makes you unable to turn away. If Robert Rodriguez can repeat that same thing in the sequel, Machete Kills, then I'm all for it. There are a whole lot of actors jumping into the fun-filled fray, including Charlie Sheen as the President of the United States and Mel Gibson as the big baddie of the film, Luther Voz. I love that Rodriguez is using publicly scorned performers in his little piece of trash cinema. It adds a level of knowing ridiculousness to the proceedings, and helps to view the movie as the violent farce that it is. With appearances by Edward James Olmos, Cuba Gooding Jr, Antonio Banderas and Lady Gaga (!) all planned, it'll be hard to miss such a extravagant display of wanton carnage.
