4. Russell Crowe
Looking for a man of strong moral integrity with a penchant for violent vigilante-style justice? Check out Officer Wendall 'Bud' White of LA Confidential. Want a character driven by an unquenchable thirst for revenge, while retaining his code of honour? That'll be General Maximus Decimus Meridius of Gladiator. Ok, it may count against him that he played Jor-El in Man Of Steel, but this is all hypothetical anyway, right? We've all seen the sheer testosterone exhibited by Crowe in films such as Gladiator and Robin Hood to know that he could carry off the physicality of the role with aplomb, and he remains one of the finest actors of his generation, so the complex nature of Bruce's duality would be leant a huge slice of gravitas by Crowe. The largest drawback I could imagine to having Crowe as Batman would be that, as with other choices on the list, I can't imagine there would be much longevity in the role or scope for sequels. Still, I would have much preferred Batman's appearance in a Superman film to be a one-off and not the beginning of a crossover franchise.
