5 Actors Who Should Voice Mario Instead Of Chris Pratt In New Super Mario Bros Movie
2. Charles Martinet
Even if you're not familiar with the name Charles Martinet, you've undoubtedly heard his voice, as the man is a legendary video game actor. He's provided the vocals for Paarthurnax in Skyrim, Orvus in Ratchet & Clank, and, oh, a little character called Mario in almost every Nintendo property for decades! Even Michael Bay knew to cast Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, so why not Martinet as Mario?
When the casting video came out, plenty of people were expecting to see Martinet on it, as he's been the voice of Mario/Luigi/Wario and plenty of other Nintendo characters since 1995. So, fans felt more than a little ticked off when it got to the end, and his name appeared under the role of "surprise cameos". It's clear that he deserves better, and so, how much better could it get than playing his most beloved role in a big feature-length film?
Of course, his iconic rendition of Mario's voice would bring a wave of nostalgia and familiarity to the role, which would help make the project feel genuine, no matter how good or bad it is.
Sure, he doesn't have much drawing power outside of hardcore circles, but have you seen the rest of the cast? Nintendo doesn't need to worry about that, as they've already got the star power quota covered.
