national ma In another case of test audience reaction resulting in a franchise, this first entry in the Vacation series originally had a much darker ending. After discovering that Walley World is closed for two weeks, the Griswold family drives to the home of Roy Wally and forces him and his family to sing and dance for them at gunpoint. This means they probably wouldn€™t have gotten out of jail in time for the European Vacation. Fortunately, the reshot ending included a part for John Candy whose presence automatically improves any movie. The original ending has not been seen since that initial test screening.
