2. The Avengers
Whatever lofty expectations Christopher Nolan may have been saddled with upon the release of his final Batman film, imagine the weight on the shoulders of Joss Whedon. Nolan had but one superhero to manage properly. Whedon, on the other hand, was responsible for the hopes and dreams of four superhero franchises in Thor, Captain America, Hulk, and Iron Man. And on top of that, he had to put together a comprehensive action film that paid homage to each character in the proper way. To say Whedon pulled off this feat is to undersell the pure fun and action spectacle that is Marvel's The Avengers. Each of our leads, from Downey's Iron Man to Hemsworth's Thor and on down, have their moment to shine. But what excited fanboys, and excited me, more than anything was the introduction of The Incredible Hulk done correctly. It has been a long struggle to properly convey the green guy on screen realistically. Mark Ruffalo does Banner well, and CGI takes care of the transformation by delivering everyone's favorite Avenger doing what he does the best we have ever seen on film.
