5 Awesome Ed Norton Performances and 5 That Sucked

2. The Invention of Lying (2009)

Norton€™s Character: Cop Why It Sucked: Despite having a terrific sounding comedic cast, which contains some of the cream of modern comedy €“ and Jennifer Garner €“ and boasting a pretty unique premise (in a world without mistruth of any kind, a man invents lying and can€™t seem to stop), The Invention of Lying is decidedly tepid. Alright, maybe Norton was in this movie for all of three minutes so it might be a little unfair to judge (hey, finding bad Norton movies is a difficult task), but I just can€™t imagine why he would have even considered attaching himself to such an uncharacteristic role in such an uncharacteristic movie. He shows up, delivers a little spiel in a thick Massachusetts accent and he€™s gone. And like the movie itself, he makes little to no impact.
