2. The Italian Job
If there was a word to describe this film, I'd choose 'fun'. Filled with patriotic fervour as a pretense to a gold heist on the mob, the Italian Job has become somewhat of an institution in the UK with its frequent showing on TV, memorable lines, iconic Mini Cooper car chase, and larger than life characters. Oh and that ending, which has since ingrained itself in the public's consciousness as one of the greatest cliffhangers ever. With Michael Caine as the dapper ladies man masterminding the operation, Noel Coward as the patriotic moneyman fronting it, and Benny Hill as a tech genius obsessed with big women, you have a whole bunch of flavours mixing with the flashy, fast, and fun story to create one of cinemas most memorable heists.
