5 Awesome Obscure Comic Book Characters Who Need Their Own Movie

1. Evil Ernie

evilernie Comfortably making the number one spot in my list is the awesome Evil Ernie. Originally part of Eternity Comics, Ernie came to prominence when he got his own series with Chaos! Comics and Devil's Due Publishing. Ernie began life as Ernest Fairchild - a young boy who possessed the supernatural ability to sketch scenes, which would later actually happen. Ernest had a good start to life with a happy family, but things began to go wrong when his Father was forced by his superiors to leave many workers unemployed, began to drink heavily and subsequently started to exhibit violence. He killed Ernest's pet rat 'Smiley' in a fit of rage. In an act of revenge, Ernest drew a picture of his Father's car crashing in to a tree. Sadly, the next person to drive the car was actually his Mother, who crashed in to a tree - as per Ernie's sketch - severely injuring her, instead of his Father as intended, and killing her unborn child (and Ernest's unborn sibling). As a result, Ernest's Mother also became abusive, which made Ernest's home life horrific. His powers began to develop to the extent that he could hear people's thoughts. His neighbours thoughts gave away the fact that they knew he was being abused, but weren't prepared to do anything about it, since they all either worked beneath Ernest's Father and wanted to keep their jobs, or had already lost their jobs at his hands and were too bitter and twisted to care about what was going on in his household. Ernest's parents intended to 'cure him' of his powers. A doctor tried an untested device on Ernest, which was intended to probe his dreams, but actually sent his subconscious mind to a realm known as the Endless Graveyard, where he met Lady Death. She offered to love him in the way he craved if he killed everyone on Earth. After awakening and completing this experimental treatment, Ernest pretended to be cured and went home with his parents, only to murder them the next morning - along with thirty-five other people - before he was shot by his doctor, who had come to check in on him. Ernest was incarcerated and was considered a lost cause until a device was created to alter people's minds. Whilst it was being used on Ernest, Lady Death used her telepathic link with him to make it explode, killing Ernest. Lady Death then used a smiley badge, which was placed on his corpse, as a conduit for her arcane energy, transforming Ernest into the powerful, undead monster that would be known as Evil Ernie. As Evil Ernie, he possesses telepathy, near-limitless regenerative ability, superhuman strength, the ability to animate and control dead bodies and the ability to manipulate arcane energy. The smiley badge that was laid on his corpse is possessed by his psychotic, dead pet rat and is considered to be Ernie's 'partner'. He sets about killing everyone on the planet by creating his army of corpses (his 'dead onez') and instigating a nuclear war - but not before confronting his parents, just to add a bit of emotion to the massacre. The story would make for a crazy, gory horror movie of epic proportions and would represent a completely new kind of comic book movie. Combining the very popular comic book movie with the equally popular zombie movie - with a bit of crazy mixed in for good measure - could be a stroke of genius by any film studio bold enough to make this a reality.
