DC and Warner Bros' announcement that the follow-up to
Man of Steel will be a Superman/Batman crossover movie has confirmed that the DC cinematic universe is set to expand. Ultimately, the fans want to see the universe develop as much as the Marvel cinematic universe, with the formation of the Justice League (like Marvel have done with the Avengers) and the introduction of new characters and new trials and tribulations for the existing characters. The comic book story arcs in which DC's characters have previously starred will be the basis for all future movies, of that there is no doubt. But, given that there have been thousands of storylines in DC comic book history, choosing which ones to adapt in to big screen movies is no easy task.
