Ever since a location said to be Atlantis was highlighted on a map in Iron Man 2, a Namor the Sub-Mariner movie has been rumoured and indeed expected to happen at some point. At present, however, the rights to a Namor movie actually lie with Universal, but that shouldn't pose too much of an issue to Marvel if they want to include him in their ongoing cinematic universe. Iron Man and Black Widow were owned by New Line until 2005, and Hulk and Thor belonged to Universal and Sony respectively until 2006, so it's not uncommon or difficult to acquire characters when they aren't already tied up in an ongoing franchise. If a Namor movie did come to fruition - and we really hope it does - questions would certainly be raised about who the villain(s) might be. The Sub-Mariner's gallery of rogues isn't exactly as iconic as someone like Spider-Man's or Batman's, but that doesn't mean to say it isn't very good - in fact, there are some really cool and intriguing characters who could find themselves gaining some screen time.
