5 Best Extended Takes In Movie History

3. Children of Men (2006)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga_r6AGZ2eU Alfonso Cuaron's recent sci-fi action piece follows Clive Owen's Theo Faron, who lives in a not-too-futuristic world in which all women have become infertile. We learn early in the film that the last person to be born recently died while in his teenage years. Faron runs into (okay, is kidnapped by) his estranged activist wife Julian, played by Julianne Moore. She proposes a deal for her husband in which he will aid in the travel of a young refugee. Faron quickly learns that the refugee, Kee, has somehow managed to become pregnant, a game-changer for humanity. Cuaron pulls off multiple prolonged scenes in Children of Men. The first and most audacious involves Kee, Theo, Julian and two others driving in a car. The camera sits inside the car with them as Theo and Julian impressively manage to pass a ping pong ball back and forth between their mouths using projectile forces. Then, a flaming car rolls onto the street, blocking the road ahead. The driver throws it in reverse as the camera turns, as their own car is set on fire and windows are shattered. Other important plot points occur, and a dude is thrown off of a motorcycle. Totally awesome.
