2. Got A Plane To Catch
Superman Returns, I will be honest, is a film I loathe with all of my heart. It just isn't a Superman film. It features a character that bares no resemblance to the character I know and love. That aside, it does have the greatest action sequence thus far committed to celluloid in a Superman film, and truly showcases what the character is capable of. Having been absent for 5 years whilst travelling back to where the remains of Krypton were rumoured to be, Superman returns to Earth and Metropolis having found things have changed a little since he has been gone. It doesn't take too long however before he is back in to the old Superhero game as the launching of a Space Shuttle from a passenger aircraft goes awry, and the Space Shuttle rockets to Space still strapped to the Earth bound aeroplane, soon to result in the death of everyone on board. That is until Superman makes his appearance in an exhilarating and breathtaking sequence as he frees the Shuttle and attempts to safely land the plane without killing everyone on board as he struggles to gain control of the free falling aircraft. A great moment that, again, is endlessly watchable. If only the rest of the film was the same.
