5 Changes That Would Have Improved Terminator Salvation

2. Don€™t Give John Connor Your Heart Marcus

terminator_salvation_movie_image_sam_worthington_and_moon_bloodgood_ The biggest shock in the movie comes towards its climax when John is impaled through the chest by the T-800. John Connor is the leader of the resistance and the hope of killing him is the reason that Skynet send a terminator back in time in the first place. If they could kill him in their present there would be no story to any of the films. That€™s why it€™s so shocking that he€™s so blatantly fatally wounded near the film's close. This shock soon disappears as it goes a bit silly, when the dying John is saved when Marcus sacrifices himself and offers to have his own heart transplanted into John. The story from behind the scenes is that originally after John was injured, he died. Then Marcus would somehow wear John€™s skin to carry on his image of hope to the resistance...or something like that. It sounded terrible, so thank goodness this story detail leaked to the net and led to them changing the ending. The original ending would have suggested that the real leader of the resistance that had helped the human kind back from the brink of extinction would have been Marcus and not John at all. Unfortunately the filmed ending was just ridiculous. With just scraps of medical equipment Kate €˜I was a vet in Terminator 3€™ Connor was left to perform a heart transplant on her husband. The original ending sounded bad and the actual ending lacked credibility. Yes it was a good moment to shock the audience with John Connor€™s apparent death, but they should have came up with a more plausible way of saving him. Maybe just using some of the terminator technology in Connor to save him would have brought about a more interesting ending. That way the leader of the fight against the terminators would have himself been part terminator and could have led to more interesting character development in a sequel as he dealt with his lessoned humanity.
