5 Comic Books That Would Be More Successful On TV Than Film

4. Ghost Rider

ghost rider 2 dollars. The film starred Nicolas Cage as the stunt man by day/supernatural flaming skeleton at night. The first film contained little to no action and a very weak team of villains. The sequel was the complete opposite of critically acclaimed and had an appalling time at the box office. Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor directed the film; they are the violence-obsessed helmers of the Crank series. They tried to make a violent R-rated Ghost Rider with lots of action and explosions, they just forgot to add dialogue and plot into their film. The one thing that Neveldine/Taylor got right was the rating of the film. Ghost Rider is a mature comic, it contains very dark elements, and Johnny Blaze is a twisted soul. With the right writing and creative direction, Ghost Rider could make for a very interesting television show. Anti-heroes such as Showtime€™s Dexter have become very popular over the years. What the two Nic Cage films failed to do was get the audience to sympathize and root for his character. A Ghost Rider series showing the early years of Johnny Blaze giving his soul to the devil, and becoming the hell-raising vigilante could show us the side to the character that we were never able to see on the big screen.
