5. The Apes Take Over The Planet Completely, Wiping Out All Humans
If the reboot were a self-contained trilogy, we would suggest that this direction is entirely possible. The third film could see a continuation of the war enacted in Dawn, only on a global scale. And whilst the magical films have thus far showed a glimmer of hope in the ape-human conflict, it is entirely possible that a harrowing ending awaits filmgoers. It would be sickeningly shocking to see every single human wiped out come the close of the third film, but this is something that could plausibly happen. We have already seen Caesars rule face problems due to the mutiny of Koba which resulted in the death of hundreds on either side, so another uprising could play out. The end of Dawn showed Caesar to be weakened from his monumental fight with Koba. Caesar dreams of harmony between both races, so for this scenario to play out Caesar needs to be wiped out near the very beginning of the film, along with those which agree with his stance. This would allow the mutineers to go on to conduct genocide on humanity, leaving apes are the true ruler of the world. Welcome to the planet of the apes. Alas it probably wont happen. Caesar sells this franchise; we all empathise with him, and as much as filmgoers would probably want to see the world of the apes (because, you know, the human characters are pretty rubbish), not many would want to see Caesar definitively die. His near-death in Dawn was enough.
