5 Directions Planet Of The Apes 3 Can Take

2. Harmony

Now this is what most will likely want to unfold. Complete and utter harmony amongst both races, ending the war on a positive note. And whilst this possibility signals the end of the new franchise, it ultimately doesn't have to. Quite how harmony would be achieved we don€™t know - perhaps Caesar can finally talk some sense into his kin, and in turn instruct them on how to talk - but a similar premise to the original series will likely unfold. As already stated, the reboot series is ultimately telling the same story backwards - here we see how the intelligence of the apes sparked the planet, whereas the original series depicted the planet first and flashed back to show how it came to be. A fourth movie, following this harmony, could flash into the future and show the legacy of this harmony. As such, Caesar et al would be no more, but his story would be contained in a happily ever after trilogy. Who can forget the spine-tingling final shot of the first ever movie? That of the broken Statue of Liberty confirming the ape world and the human world is one and the same. Perhaps a fourth movie, showing this legacy, could culminate in a newly constructed statue showing not a human female clad in robes but rather an ape grasping a burning torch, cementing the unity of both species, resulting in an equally iconic parting shot. Yes, this scenario is a little cheesy, but one which is entirely likely. After raging war for three movies, a positive end is surely needed?
