5 Directors Who Could Save The X-Men Franchise From Mediocrity
2. Brad Bird
Bird
is primarily an animation director, but that doesn't mean that his
work with live-action features should be overlooked.
By cranking up the silliness and dialing down the high-falutin self-importance, Bird's Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol finally allowed the franchise to find a consistent tone as it continues to move forward.
On the other hand, Tomorrowland, his most recent directorial effort, wasn't great, even if it was hugely passionate in its intentions. The film still boasted enough imagination and innovative visuals to keep people interested, and there's no denying Bird's creative vision.
Singer's visual signatures with the X-Men movies have become as played out as a Los Del Rio record. With Bird's Spielbergian penchant for creating exciting action sequences, his approach could provide a much needed adrenaline shot to the franchise's heart.
