Ignoring what can be extrapolated from the trailer with comic book knowledge, what the tease on its own promises is a movie about humanity's scientific reach, featuring secretive science experiments and visits to strange and desolate new locales. One scene will also feature a car driving through crops kicking up dust. Wait, didn't that come last year under the name of Interstellar? Everyone's become accustomed to trailers uncertain on their movie's identity simply lifting from Inception, so maybe it's commendable to centre one on a different Nolan's movie, but that dismisses that it actually means it's hard to get a lock on what Fantastic Four is bringing to the table. Of course Fantastic Four will probably be nothing like Christopher Nolan's divisive sci-fi epic, but there's a few too many links in the teaser to not comment on it; heck, the voice-over is essentially a rewording of the speech delivered by Matthew McConaughey in Interstellar's first trailer. These aspects are probably just a statement of intent that this new take on the Four is nothing like the 2005 misfire, but hewing so close to other movies isn't the best show of originality.
