2. The Hobbit: Desolation Of Smaug
The opening for this one is slated for December 13, 2013 and I for one CAN wait for that date. I won't be counting down the days until this one, and subsequently I am sure the days will seem to come to pass far too quickly. Why, you ask? Because the decade between TLOTR: ROTK and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was painful enough, but to imagine a clear-cut, definitive ending to the characters so many of us have held so close to our hearts is quite frankly, unbearable. I guess the best thing to do is put those thoughts in the back of my memory and spend more time anticipating the epicness that will be The Desolation of Smaug. As if I'm not already. We last left Bilbo and company as they had successfully navigated through the Misty Mountains and escaped the grasps of the Orcs by way of those clutch ass eagles that Gandalf always comes through with. Bilbo had taken ownership of the "One True Ring" that he would gladly return had he known the future that would await he and his family. Since the one book by the name of "The Hobbit" will be stretched out through these three movies it is impossible to really know what all the plot will entail. We know Bilbo and the Dwarves will continue on their journey along with Gandalf. We know there will be some true-to-the-book encounters and some not. And I'd be willing to bet there will be an epic battle with an epic dragon of sorts. Other than that, we will have to wait and see. For now though we will just drool over the new trailers, set shots, and rumors as they come.
