5 Feisty Exploitation Films With Bad-Ass Girl Gangs!

4. She Devils On Wheels (1968)

Screen Shot 2013-05-15 at 13.40.39 "Go fumigate yourself, craphead!" Such is the quality of the dialogue in H G Lewis's classic bad girl bikers movie She Devils on Wheels. The Man Eaters, as they call themselves, have great fun racing against each other on their bikes, terrorising the locals and feuding with a rival male gang. Gory 'highlights' include a man being decapitated by the gang and another man being dragged along the ground attached to the back of a female biker. To appreciate this film, you really have to be a huge fan of 60s/70s drive in sleaze cinema. It is a bloody awful spectacle but very appealing to people like me (and the other one) who can be entertained by stupid, campy but strangely endearing schlock. I have mentioned the hideous dialogue. There is also terrible over acting (not a strange thing in a H G Lewis movie), crappy gore and just plain old bad (mis)directing. The Man Eaters principally race against each other to determine who gets first dibs on the Stud Line - a parade of men apparently there to sexually fulfil the gals. The chicks are led by hard as nails, and loud with it, - Queen (Betty Connell). Most of the women used in the film come from real life female biker gangs which explains the horrific acting. "All Men are Mothers!" seems to be their group slogan but they spend an awful amount of time in piss poor orgies in which nobody takes off their clothes! But still, if you love trash cinema, She Devils on Wheels is such a colossal wreck, you will rub your hands in glee at the very mention of its name!

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
