3. Teenage Gang Debs (1966)
A cracking little B Movie that has a really gritty New York City vibe to it, Teenage Gang Debs follows the tale of Terry, a girl from Manhattan who leaves her gang - The Golden Falcons - to infiltrate a Brooklyn gang - The Brooklyn Rebels. Terry is badass and ambitious, manipulative and devious. Nevertheless she has a soft spot for Rebels member Johnny and she uses her wiles to get him to kill the leader of the gang, making it seem like another gang has done the deed. This sparks an all out war between the rival gangs which fells quite a few Rebels. Whenever the Rebel molls find out Terry is behind the carnage they exact a gruesome revenge. Along the way, the film features gang rape, knife violence, girl fights - a veritable plethora of delights for us B Movie fans. There is enough sleaze here to amply satisfy fans of schlocky exploitation. The acting is mainly bad and the screenplay is poor. But this just adds to the film's campy appeal! It is a sordid little film which exploits the Juveniles gone wild genre that was so popular at the time. A fascinating relic.
